Zuerst: Bernadette Zeilinger

In freien Improvisationen öffnet Bernadette Zeilinger mit ihren Blockflöten Türen zu neuen Räumen. Sie erschafft eine Welt von Klängen und Stimmungen, die durch ihren ureigenen Charakter verzaubern. Ihre Konzerte sind Reisen, deren Wege und Ziele sich aus dem Moment ergeben. Für das Publikum, aber auch die Künstlerin selbst, erschließt sich die Musik immer wieder neu und einzigartig.

Nach ihren Studienabschlüssen in Pädagogik und Blockflöte in Wien studiert Bernadette Zeilinger nun Improvisation bei Alfred Zimmerlin und Fred Frith in Basel. Die in Österreich und in der Schweiz lebende Musikerin setzt ihre Schwerpunkte mit Blockflöten und Elektronik in der Improvisation und in neuen Musikströmungen. 2009 gewann sie beim Wettbewerb der IGNM (Internationale Gesellschaft für neue Musik) Österreich einen Preis für ihren Radio-Werbespot für Neue Musik. Sie spielte unter anderem Konzerte mit Franz Hautzinger und Burkhard Stangl. Ihre internationale Konzerttätigkeit führte sie auch zum Generator im Musikklub Mehrspur in Zürich und in das ORF RadioKulturhaus Wien. Als Künstlerin ist ihr der Kontakt zwischen verschiedenen kreativen Feldern wichtig. So schafft sie auch mit Tänzern, Schauspielern und Malern zusammen.

Concern is the solo music project of Gordon Ashworth, created in 2004. It is a painstaking collage of magnified overtones and delicate tape manipulation, using strictly acoustic instruments and field recordings as sound sources. Intended to sound at once antique, modern and surreally timeless, Concern is composed of shifting and intimate presences of harmonic resonance and decay, carefully steeped and tempered by the nausea and overwhelming emotion of the outside world.

Gordon Ashworth has released two full-length albums as Concern, and has performed live throughout the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
Ashworth lives and works in Portland, Oregon, and is also involved in the solo & collaborative projects Oscillating Innards, CAEN, Knelt Rote, Black Air, and Vile Horrendous Aerial Bombardment, and is the brother of Owen Ashworth (Advance Base, ex-Casiotone For The Painfully Alone)

MATAR DOLORES (IT)

Matar Dolores is a collaborative effort consisting of Francesco Tignola and Giuseppe Esposito, active in Naples, in the south of Italy. Their sound research is based on a massive use of field recordings in a strict compositional perspective and clever breaks of “music”; their gigs usually hit audiences for depth and dynamism. First official release, a c 20 tape dedicated to philosopher Karl Polanyi, will see the light in 2012 through the italian label Joy De Vivre.

What a Nice Time We Had Here is a collaboration between video artist Alex Nathanson and violinist and composer Dylan Neely.  The projections are based in computer programs Nathanson writes in Max/MSP/Jitter to take sensor data from the live performance to control video play and animation.  Neely’s improvisational style is influenced by Eastern European Roma folk music, punk, and minimalism.  The project explores nostalgia, dreams, and the desire for meaningful social and political action, taking Zizek’s above quote as a starting point for exploring footage captured the morning of October 15th at Occupy Wall St. in New York City.

Alex Nathanson is a video artist, photographer, and curator based in New York.  He is a member of the curatorial collective Pulp Legend and, along with Dylan Neely, founded The Bat Barn, a performance space in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.  His work has been shown at PS122 Gallery (NYC), 25CPW (NYC), and the School of the International Center of Photography (NYC).  His live video projects have been presented in collaboration with the bands Man Forever, Vernous, and John Snyder at numerous art spaces in New York City.  Most recently, he has has been awarded a residency for time based art at the Institute for Electronic Arts at Alfred University in Alfred, NY.

Dylan Neely is a composer/violinist based in New York City. He is currently a participant composer in the New York Youth Symphony’s Making Score program, with an upcoming performance at Symphony Space (NYC) and reading by the American Composers’ Orchestra. Past honors include a Fulbright Fellowship to Belgrade, Serbia, and multiple scholarships and awards from Bard College at Simon’s Rock, where he graduated with his B.A. magna cum laude at the age of nineteen. Additional studies at the Belgrade Faculty of Music and Juilliard. He attended the 2011 highSCORE festival in Pavia, Italy, where his string quartet Balkan was premiered by Quartetto Indaco. His teachers have included Tatjana Milošević Mijanović, Larry Wallach, and Conrad Cummings.

The Borisov/Nosova duo was formed in Moscow (RF), april 2009. Music components: free improvised, live electronics, electroacoustic, spoken word, tape music, ambient, soundtracks, field recordings, techno, sound art etc.

The duo collaborates with different musicians, sound artists, video-artists, dancers and poets from different countries, produces music for silent movies (“The 11th” and “Enthusiasm” by Dziga Vertov), art exhibitions, theatrical and multi-media events and actions + djing.
